The end - or is it really the beginning of something else

Wow, today. Just wow. Woke up in a great mood, did some work, and then headed off to work. The day was a whirl of goodbyes, sorting, shredding, and running around town. Pshew.

Goodbye, desk!

Goodbye, walk

After work, I had a goodbye party with my division. I will miss them. I've worked with the man next to me making a fist for 5 years.

Well, I must go, as I'm falling asleep.

I seem to be in a nostalgic mood. Goodbye, laundry detergent! It's been a great 5 years together (no, I do laundry more than you are thinking - I refill the same bottle).

Goodbye, house!

Time to pack up and embark on a new adventure!

Good night

This is Elizabeth with Station WKNI, getting ready to sign out.
90% there!
This is waiting for me!

Darling apartment, it's been an exciting 5 years. I will miss you and your cozy quirkiness. Farewell, Wakkanai home!

Good night from my futon!

Not quite the celebration post yet

But I'm giggling a little bit, because Worn by Tenth Avenue North just popped up for the first time in my mix.

The timing couldn't be more perfect! The final bits of packing, late at night.
Here's some pretty flowers from yesterday.

Last night in selfies

Here's what my last night in my apartment has been like so far. I shall present it in selfies.

The outside of my house!

It's important to try things on before you pack them.

Dinner was a ham and cheese sandwich on giant bread. Cleaning out the fridge!
Time to relocate empty boxes.
Mittens! Maybe I'll wear them on the plane, since I seem to be running out of room.
I'm tired.
Really tired.
Past tired!
I'm going to chug a quick cup of coffee and then push through to the end! Will post a celebratory post before I go to bed!

A taste sensation!

In case you can't hear well, this is a pasta sauce flavored popsicle. And I'm going to eat it on camera. Maybe.

Part 2

This was a mistake:

One of the big reasons I don't want to leave Wakkanai is that I feel so loved here.
Of course I feel loved at home, but it's such a random outpouring here.

So many people have jumped in with offers to take me to the airport, to let me stay at houses, etc.

And the meetings! I've had so many get togethers in the past few weeks.

To be honest, it makes my heart sing and my eyes fill. Tears always!

My dinner

Tomorrow is our office health check, so this is my dinner.

I'm so hungry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want to eat fried octopus. And salad. And cherries!

Little blessings

A day or so ago, I realized that I didn't have any American cash for my travels. I decided that it wasn't a big deal - I might be hungry, but I wouldn't die or anything.

As I was sorting through some old stuff, I found this in the middle:
Thanks for the present, Lord! It really encourages me to know that if He cares about something little, like having something to eat while traveling, He definitely will provide for the big stuff, too.
Like this.

Rocks and water

Last year, I think around March or so, I felt like a rock in a fast-moving stream. Everything was changing around me, but I was just standing still in the current.

Boy, how things have changed!

Well, back to the torture that is packing. How do you condense your life into just a few boxes? I may end up back in Mississippi with 500 ferry tickets and no shirts. I haven’t actually packed any clothes yet except for a yukata (summer kimono) and a dress/sweater. Hmmmm. If you Mississippi folks just see me strolling around every day like this, you’ll know why.

My life

Please enjoy this bizarre picture of my life at the moment.
Also, I discovered a Rishiri points sticker adhered to me. Maybe I can turn myself in for a prize.

Today was a cold July day - about 65 degrees. I'm going to miss cold July days!
