Today was a really good and relaxing day. I went hiking with friends, ate homemade pizza, met some new people, and got swept into a BBQ party with some of my students and a parent.

It was just the kind of relaxing day I needed!

Final day at Toyotomi

Today was the first day of a long line of goodbyes.
Of course I got sniffly. But I also had a really good time chatting with the students.
So much happened today. It was a good day, but also hard. I think the good actually outweighed the sad, though!

From here on out, all of my visits are lasts. Ugh! Arg! Sad, sad face.

I do not like goodbyes. And I am the type to cry over things as simple as heartwarming news reports. You can imagine my troubles!

In other news, I saw a snowplow today. I had a good time at church, too! And I got a plate of turkey and stuffing!

The view from school

All of my school visits now are second-to-lasts or lasts. This week is two second-to-lasts and one last.
It's breaking my heart.
Right now, the daisies are blooming.
This season is one of my favorites. Daisies just pop out in abundance everywhere.
Hi, fellas!
Changing seasons are beautiful, but it's hard to see them come and go.
After work, I had sushi with the friend who stayed at my house last night.
This is my first night on my own since last Tuesday. Kind of weird!

3 am

I took this picture around 3:30AM, before we went to bed. It is now 11:48PM, and I am about to conk over.
Today was another great day! Add it to the list of things I have to tell you about!

Lake Akan

The problem with having a great time is that it's awfully hard to leave afterwards. Sigh.

Today was yet another delightful day. We drove out to Lake Akan. In the morning, it was cloudy. When we returned, it was cloudy and rainy. But, while we were there, the weather was beautiful.
We took a cruise around the lake on a boat. Of course. Here's our boat.
I stood out on the back deck for the whole ride. Made friends with some older ladies who were in a tour group.
The sky was so beautiful!
The sunshine felt so good.
At one point, the boat stopped at a tiny tiny island and we all got off and looked at a tiny tiny museum. I think we all made it back on the bus. I mean boat.
It really was a lovely day at the lake!

Afterwards, we ate cake, shopped, and met one of my former students. She is studying in Kushiro now.

Finally, we had to say goodbye. That was not so fun. This was one of the last photos with decent-looking eyes!
I couldn't have asked for a better trip!

Now, I'm on the train in the first chunk of the long journey home. I do have something to look forward to - I'll spend the night with a friend who lives kind of along the way. It will be great to see her.

I couldn't have asked for a better birthday! I want to tell you all about it, but I have to go to bed! I will definitely share more later. But it was absolutely wonderful. Just great!
