Today we actually had some sunshine! We had gone far too long without a drop of golden sun, so I rejoiced! However, many ladies don't seem to enjoy the sun. When the sun comes out, umbrellas unfurl and skin is carefully swathed in layers of who knows what.

...Give me the Vitamin D, though! This girl needs to soak up some sun before it's gone again!

One year!

Well, I have just completed my first year of ALTing. The next time I go to class will be after the summer vacation, which is when I started teaching last year. Crazy!

Today was one of those strange days that had lots of rotten tiny things, but a few big good things that I think made up for the frustrations and annoyances. Thankfully, school was one of the best things! I had elementary school today, which was just a blast.

The kanji in this pic has made me giggle ever since I learned the direct translation. In this context, it means that this is a train car for those of us with non-reserved tickets. The dictionary definition, though, is freedom or liberty. It makes me feel like I'm in the French Revolution or Braveheart or something!

To liberty!

George Washington wasn't here

This morning I went for a walk. Along the way, I saw something I don't think I've ever seen before! Actual cherries growing on trees! And in the city, too! Don't worry - I didn't eat any. ;-)

Something I like

I love JR ticket cases! They just bring exotic places and adventures to mind!

I actually have a whole pile of tickets at my house in a ticket case (it's a good deal to get a bazillion at one time). You can imagine how exciting that is!

I arrived home from my Furano trip about an hour ago. It was so much fun to see friends again! And the flowers were GORZgEOUS! Yes, I know that spelling is a little weird! I'm tired, and I kinda like it that way! Well, I'm beat. Good night, y'all!

Sunday morning we went to a shop with really tasty bagels. And the shop was super cute! It was really rustic inside and out.
